I had a good moment at the last day of 2009.
On 31th December, I went to "Haiji-no-mura (Heidi's village)". Do you know "Heidi"? She is an animation character. "Heidi -A girl of Alps-" is one of the most famous Japanese animation. She is a very cute girl and the story is emotional. Heidi's village is a prefectural park that is collaborated with Heidi. The main attraction is a beautiful garden. I put the URL and recommend looking the page.(*^∪^*)
The reason why I went there is because there was illuminated!! ( I love illuminations! :P) My friend went there last year and said to me "there is wonderful!" I wanted to go there for a long time. When I looked the illuminations, I was entranced for the beauty!!! :D* I thought, there is the most beautiful place where I have ever been to!
The moment of seeing the old year out, the fireworks were set off and everyone was clapping their hands. The staffs of Heidi's village distributed buckwheat noodles. In Japan, it's the custom to eat buckwheat noodles on New Year's Eve. I was very glad because there was very cold and the noodle was hot! It was my great New Year's Eve!!
I find it very interesting how Japanese people have really embraced the idea of holiday lighting. There seem to be a lot of popular spots for viewing this illuminations. It looks like you found a really nice one as well!
